4.3 Viewing 3D Models

4.3.3 Evaluating 3D Models

Exercise: Selecting two models for close observation

Below you can find four 3D models produced by undergraduate students as part of the course 'Computational Thinking for the Arts and Humanities' at University College Maastricht in 2019. Your tasks is to select two of these models, closely observe them, and write a blog post or an entry for your reflective diary (500 words for each model), evaluating their quality. For this you should take into account:

  • Geometric details and topology
  • Texture Wrapping
  • Colour
  • Realism
  • Context
  • Annotations

To respond to this exercise, it may also be helpful to see the models on Sketchfab where you can find more information about their context. Looking at the original objects, might also help you to better evaluate the quality of the 3D models.
