UNIT II: Cultural Heritage in Augmented Reality File 2.4.2.1 "Choirokoitia" AR Mobile App Download

Download the “Choirikoitia” App and then follow the steps below to install:

Installation procedure:

If the message notification “File might be harmful” appears when pressing the “Download” button, choose “Download anyway”.

Choose “Open” and if permissions are required to be enabled, then proceed to enable them for the specific browser that you are using to download the file, e.g. “Google Chrome”, and then press the back arrow to return and start the installation. Otherwise, locate the downloaded app using a file manager application and open it.

Congratulations! You can then open the installed app and follow the onscreen instructions on how to use the app and navigate properly.

The “Agreement Statement” needs to be accepted, by scrolling to the end, in order to be able to proceed and use the apps.

Please take into consideration that sufficient floor space/desk surface and lighting conditions are required as well as allowing time for the scanning and detection process to map out the environment by slow-moving the mobile device in a circular motion as indicated by the UI/UX elements. This procedure involves physical environment tracking and simultaneously creating and placing a high number of point clouds (white dots) as possible, to achieve a steady placement of the virtual elements in your surrounding environment.

When a similar appearance of point clouds is displayed on your screen as the above image, then tap on them to place the virtual elements at that location/position, which will blend with your environment.

Points to note: Navigate around the scene, clues can be lighting sources, virtual objects, etc. Actions are triggered when you are in close proximity to virtual elements.

If you need any guidance, please ask your instructor.
