Let's first have a quick look at the visualisations!

The complete topic distribution visualisation is far too big to include here, but we have added a visualisation that shows you how the first 50 rows were annotated.

So, what can we say about Europe's future based on the identified topics? The way that the climate change crisis has been described by the authors covers several areas of concern, such as water, sun, air and energy. We also see that policy, technology and innovation play a central role in the narratives. We could look at these topics from the perspective of the current discourse on climate change and ask ourselves: "Do they match?". It would also be interesting to see how the topics identified here would compare to older science fiction that also deals with changes in the climate.

So what should you do now? We hope you have found this interesting and feel motivated to keep working with the methods we explored during the OER. For this specific use case, you could try to implement the method for selecting the number of topics shown in the example in 3.3, or you could head out on the internet and collect more short stories on the topic of climate change to see if you can establish any patterns. If you want to follow up on the idea of older literature, Project Gutenberg is a treasure trove of materials available for free.
