It is difficult to say wether there is a logic relationship between sound studies and digital humanities. We can observe that there is some research interest to lage collection of digital sound fx from national broadcasters, and there is certainly huge commercial interest in exploring possibilities of intelligent algorithm based sound analysis of  big music collections (iTunes of Spotify for instance). This is, however, that case with textual and audiovisual material as well. 

I would say that with the spread and sophistication of digital technologies visual, auditory and audiovisual means of expression has moved from the professional to the personal, and naturally huge interest in researching, studying and not the least listening and producing follow that movement.
