  • Introduction: Encoding and XML

In this module, you will learn about encoding texts with an XML standard, the Text Encoding Initiative (TEI). Why do we encode, and what are the benefits? Why do we use a common standard? Which technologies are necessary to make the most of an XML encoded edition?

    Exercises

Now that you understand XML and the TEI, it is time to start practising! Follow the two guided exercises that will walk you through the encoding and display of your first TEI file.
